like, okay okay

i must return soon and get involved with all this deliciousness. carlie and sarah, thank you, you dolls, for being faithful to our little deal here. i just read a couple of posts then couldn't figure out how to move around in this blasted lovely blog. anyway, i want to talk about scars and bands and what-not. i can't stand using dad's computer cause it's SO slow-- dial-up. but perhaps soon i will have a laptop and i can take it on my coffee shop journeys! then you will all get quite tired of me, or you'll decide you must come to K.C. to buy me a beer. which is what i must go do now. something dark, something savory, something to write poems to...

They attacked at dawn.

(breathes out sigh of relief)

Thank goodness it is the weekend. Glad to hear that you survived the blizzard, Miss Sarah. Today's blog I intend to tell an incredible tale of tigers and darkness.

Curled up in the night she slept -- one foot inside the fluff of the covers -- the other carelessly left to the elements outside. Careless for what crept beneath the bed.

It lurks there -- day or night -- waiting for its prey -- intent on blood with no care of what damage it does to its prey.

Dong --- Dong --- Dong. The clock struck three -- and with only a hint of moonlight shining onto the floor, the monster made his move. Swiftly and quieter than the devil himself -- warm breath rushing past his face -- he attacked the uncovered extremity.

The mortal being inside the covers awoke with a scream -- blood pouring out of the wound. The tiger merely flashed its eyes and ran off into the night.

My cat likes to attack my feet while I sleep. We've discussed it and he tells me he thinks it is "funny" to hear my screams. Nice cat.

Have a great weekend all. CD.

when it snows...it snows!

Hey All! Here is a little taste of the snowfall this past weekend. It was beautiful and oh so fun. Alas, that did not last. It is wet and dirty and messy now. But it was still worth it I say!

I will have to get back to you on the concert thing. Although my first major concert (I think) was Boyz II Men! Haha! It was great. Montell Jordan was there too and I got my photo taken with him. My mom drove us up. Gotta love moms! My most recent big concert event was Coldplay at the Garden. That was when I got in for free for working on the campaign to Make Trade Fair! That is right dammit. I got to canvas the area asking people to sign a petition. Great experience and educational, but still the big wigs don't really listen. Oh well.

The scar topic is a good one - I have a ton of scars. I was a reckless child and also wrecked my bike quite a bit. I have a doosey of a scar from a motorcycle muffler. I got it right before I left for college and so I was meeting all of these new people while I had this pussy nasty thing on my leg. They probably thought I was a leper!

Okay, I have to get some sleep now. Love you all!

What Concerts

Okay -- so i think I am going to try to post on here more often, because like Miss Sarah, I check here like everyday to see if anyone has posted anything.

So -- random thought just now -- what concerts have you gone to over your many years. I would guess that my list is unforgivably short:

1. Destiny's Child -- no snickers, please
2. Kidd Rock
3. Aerosmith (twice)
4. Evanescence
5. The Feds
6. Carl Orff's Carmina Burana (don't think this should count tho -- but it was such a great experience)
7. A slough of local acts in Pitty and Dallas: Paperface, Shaolin Death Squad, Greatness and Tragedy, King Zero, Glass Intrepid, whew -- can't name them all.

I am betting Longfellow has us beat.

We Are All Scarred

On the radio this morning they had listeners call in with their traumatic and/or scarring personal experiences.

For your viewing pleasure, here are some of mine -- they've all made me who I am:

1. getting separated from my family/lost at the mall (age 5). Somehow I got turned around and ended up crying to an old couple who took me to the security office. It was terrifying.

2. When I was 8 I was attempting to climb over some pig wire into a pen -- and slipped halfway. Let's just say sharp pointy things went tender places. yeah.

3. Age 20. My boyfriend at the time decided to stay in Arkansas to camp another day -- so I went back home. We were supposed to meet up on Tuesday for dinner. I cooked -- he never showed up -- until Thursday. And then wondered why I was worried. I was beyond myself with worry.

4. Age 17. I had decided to convert religions -- and when I called my best friend of my childhood she said she could no longer by my friend -- we didn't have any contact after that phone call for nearly 5 years. We talk now.

Peace all -- I hope that the snow doesn't have you too disabled, Sarah. I am actually really jealous!

"The Four" still beats "The Seven" any day

So is anyone else checking the blog and not writing? I have been very guilty of this. When Longfellow actually made an appearance I was elated, but remained quiet. I thoroughly enjoyed the post of Ms Davis the liberal (and quite rational) Republican. You may very well be a Democrat in denial, but really in today's world, what the hell is the difference anymore. Bunch of rich ivy league bastards on both sides.

Life is good here in the big city. Things go so quickly. For example, someone up and took January and I can't seem to find it! Thoreau said that time is but the stream he goes a fishin in, but does he realize that the stream has somehow turned into Class V rapids?!

Last night I went to see a play/musical that you all would have enjoyed. It was a hip-hop/rap version of the Greek tragedy "The Seven against Thebes" by Aeschylus. They didn't go on the actual play, but added to it obviously. It was hilarious to see Oedipus as this Mac-daddy pimp. The whole thing was well done and the cast is really talented. The name of the show is "The Seven" for more info see: http://www.nytw.org/ It also makes a very relevant statement about the absurdities of war.

Tonight I rode the subway home in the first car. We snaked and slithered through the tunnels of the city. I was captivated. For some reason this was the first time I have done this. It was like riding an amusement park ride. Of course if I did this everyday then it would probably get old. I guess it is just nice to see things from a new angle every once in a while.

I miss you all and hope you are well.

all love and peace to you my friends
