we'll take care of it tomorrow

so i know we've got enough problems in the great US of A, but i keep finding out more crazy horrible shit about Africa. the current issue of New Republic (anybody know what the spin of this magazine is?) argues that while we're happy to "raise awareness" about issues like....AIDS, Sudan, the Invisible Children, DARFUR, but what we really need (in Darfur) is to use force, get our military involved and stop the genocide. i don't even know enough to know the story or how it's genocide. basically, i just wanted to blog today, hehe, but i was thinking, if force is the right solution to stopping genocide (which is tough for me to reconcile with my fairly strong pacifist leanings), how do i make it happen? do i go to the nearest recruiting center and say hey, i'm ready to fight, baby, but only if you'll send me to Darfur. that might turn interesting but i don't think it would get much done.

SO, for permanent resources i offer you all a few addresses. if you get in the mood to write a letter someday about something you have an opinion about, like immigrants or why the Royals suck or health care or the finer points of Alexander Pope's philosophy, try one of these:
